North Vancouver Band and Strings Festival 2012
Lucas Centre at 7:30pm on March 8th Band and Strings Families, I'd like to invite you all to participate in the North Vancouver Band and Strings Festival 2012. Over 1,000 students will be performing over 2 days, receiving feedback from accomplished conductor, composer and this year's adjudicator Doug MacCaulay. Students will also attend Master Class workshops with musicians from the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble. The gala concert will take place in the Lucas Centre at 7:30pm on March 8th. Thanks are due to Tom Lee Music and North Shore Kiwanis for supporting the festival again this year. There is no cost to attend, though donations will be gratefully accepted at the concert. I hope you and your families will be able to attend the evening concert, and - of course - your child's band or strings performance session during the festival itself. I've attached the session schedule, so you can see when each school will be performing. Between each session the chairs and music stands are set up for the incoming students. We need volunteers who can come a few minutes before the session starts and stay a few minutes after to help set up the room. If you are able to help out in this small way please email me: volunteers help in our effort to keep the cost of the band and strings program more affordable. |

North Vancouver Band & Strings Parent Association
Did you know?
Did you know?
- The Association works closely with the School District administration, teachers, and students to ensure the continued success of the Band and Strings program
- through it's partnerships with the Kiwanis, Long and McQuade and Tom Lee Music, the Association helps provide band and strings students with access to high quality rental instruments at a very reasonable price
- membership in the organization is taken into account when the program is being evaluated by the School District as well as by donors such as Kiwanis. The more members there are the more chance the program will continue to receive the support it depends on
- program fees paid by participating students do not cover the cost of running the program. Parent support in the form of membership fees and donations will help keep the music alive at Cleveland, Handsworth and across the district.
